Attendance policy

Attendance policy

You are expected to attend all classes and to follow the class conduct, etiquette and rules to receive attendance credit. The attendance policy is as follows:

  • Attendance is taken for each 45-minute class period and you cannot make up attendance.
  • If you miss 10 minutes or more of a class for any reason will be marked ABSENT.
  • You are expected to be in class ON TIME and to remain in class for the entire duration to receive attendance credit. The use of cell phones during class is not permitted unless requested by the instructor. If you consistently send text messages or check their cell phones during class will be invited to leave the class and will receive an ABSENCE.
  • There is no attendance makeup; however, you can make up for missed coursework by completing missed assignments within the grading period.
  • If you miss class for 20 consecutive calendar days (excluding any scheduled breaks) without an approved leave of absence, you will be withdrawn from the school (and in the case of F1 students, have the F1 status terminated)

The cumulative attendance is checked at the midpoint and at the end of each quarter.

  • Students who are below 80% cumulative attendance at checkpoints receive a termination notice and have 7 days to appeal this decision by emailing documentation to support a leave of absence or medical leave by emailing the DSO at help@approachusa.com.
  • Approach will then have 7 days from the day the appeal was submitted to respond to the student’s appeal.
  • During the appeal review process, the student should be attending classes, unless there is a documented reason physically preventing the student to do so.
  • Students who fail to appeal or whose appeal is not approved will be dismissed from the school and in the case of F1 students have the F1 status terminated on SEVIS for “unauthorized drop below full course load
