How can I take a break from my studies?

How can I take a break from my studies?

Requesting a vacation!

At the end of each quarter (see academic calendar) you will get a 2-week well-deserved break to stay in the U.S or to travel abroad if you wish. School breaks are a time of rest for all students.

  • If you decide to travel abroad during a school break or vacation, make sure your F1 visa is valid and bring your I-20 to the school so our Academic Advisor/ DSO can sign the 2nd page authorizing the travel and re-entry to the U.S.

If you are enrolled in the academic year:

  • you can request one quarter as annual vacation per 12-month period, provided you continuously attend classes for 26 weeks prior to taking the vacation (on an F1 status) and you have the intention to resume classes at Approach after the vacation.
  • To request an annual vacation, you should send an email to help@approachusa.com.

Part-time students can take one quarter as vacation anytime during the year.

If you have an emergency, you can travel back home at any time. You must request a leave of absence to travel back home due to an emergency. When taking a leave of absence as an F1 student, you have up to 5 months and can return with the same visa and I-20 form.

Please see “going back home for an emergency situation” to know more.
