Going back home for an emergency situation.

Going back home for an emergency situation.

Requesting a temporary absence to travel abroad.

As an F1 student, you may return to your home country (outside of the U.S) anytime an emergency arises. To ensure you will be able to return to the U.S safely, you should request permission to travel by bringing your tickets and I-20 form to be signed by the DSO, who will authorize your travel and re-entry into the U.S. You can meet with the DSO at the school, in our virtual office, or over email (help@approachusa.com).

For leaves over 2 weeks, you must cancel your enrollment and promotional agreement. Per SEVP regulations, we will terminate your I-20 to inform SEVP that you are outside the U.S., and days before your scheduled return we will contact SEVP and request your I-20 to be reactivated. Keep in mind that to be able to enter the U.S. with the same I-20 form, you must return within 5 months from your last date of attendance. Upon arrival, you will be able to choose a new promotion (if available) and register for classes again.

For travels lasting less than two weeks during the quarter, you will be marked absent in classes and will receive a credit for missed classes. Your finance installments will be due as scheduled. Note that the DSO will not authorize travel over 4 days to other countries for vacation purposes while the quarter and classes are in session, as it would be detrimental to your academic progress.
