When do I need to report to the school and start classes?
You must report to the school to register to start classes no later than the start date stated on your I-20.
If you are arriving from abroad on F1 status, you may enter the U.S up to 30 days before the start date stated on the I-20, and you must report to the school to register to start classes no later than the start date stated on your I-20. If you change your status to F1 while in the U.S., you must report to the school as soon as the school receives an approval notice from USCIS and you must start classes no later than at the beginning of the upcoming quarter.
